As a friend so aptly put it in one of her Facebook entries, Vietnam is indeed a land of hope,

history and healing. Despite the war that plagued it for many, many years, the country recovered

and blossomed into one of the most beautiful, and tourist-friendly destinations in Asia. 

Yes, it is a third-world country - but it is one that has so much to offer.
